“It is beautiful when you find someone that is in love with your mind. Someone that wants to undress your conscience and make love to your thoughts.” – Unknown
The belief that lying skin to skin with another will foster intimacy is a great misunderstanding of the important process of truly becoming naked. It seems that we unclothe ourselves so easily, wondering if by lending our body we could nurture the feeling of trust and closeness we desire with another. We perceive this as an easier undertaking than revealing the complicated recesses of who we are. To let a person in would expose the jagged edges of our mind that are hidden and held distinct against our body’ soft curves. The edges that, when devoutly caressed by another, would cultivate the vulnerability necessary for an honest and loving bond. There are these tender places within all of us that, when faithfully shown and compassionately stroked, can exceed all other means of connecting. For only when we are truly bare, can we come together and share our bodies with the utmost intimacy.
How do you seek intimacy from others? I hope today you allow that someone in to your undressed mind.
