“It doesn’t interest me how old you are. I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool for love, for your dream, for the adventure of being alive." - Oriah Mountain Dreamer
Many of us remain on the surface. We fear going deeper to have a more meaningful relationship with ourselves and others. We get to know people for what is apparent; guiding the flow of conversations toward what is safe. Time and again, we are blinded by this tendency and fall short of getting to know the love, passion, and unique nature that exist within all of us. Perhaps we relate in this manner as a means of protection. We fear the possibility of vulnerability or the repercussions of breaking the norm by bypassing simplicity too soon. However, in not choosing to go beyond our exteriors we are opting to connect on what's trivial, remaining detached from what is profound. The beauty of experiencing others lies just beyond the surface.
Take a look at the people you surround yourself with. Do you know their spirit? Are you willing to cross boundaries and start asking the meaningful questions?
